Your Summer, Your Adventure
English Lessons at Our New York Summer Camp

Our academic program is built around one belief: you learn best when language has a purpose. That's why our summer camp combines 20 structured English lessons per week with real-world activities that put every classroom skill to use.
Taught by qualified teachers using our specially designed Sol Camps curriculum, lessons focus on communication, confidence, and real conversation - not just grammar drills. Campers are grouped by level using the globally recognised Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR), so every student is challenged at exactly the right level.
At the end of the program, each camper receives a Graduation Certificate showing their final CEFR level - a tangible achievement to take home.
Food at Our New York Summer Camp

Great food is part of the Sol Camps experience.
Every day starts with a hearty breakfast - eggs, fresh fruit, waffles, cereals, yogurt, and more - giving campers the energy they need for a full day of learning and activities. Lunch and dinner are served buffet-style on campus, with a rotating menu designed to reflect the many cultures and nationalities at camp. Expect rice dishes, pasta, chicken, salads, fresh fruit, soups, and popular favourites like pizza and burgers. When campers head off campus for excursions, packed meals or food vouchers are provided so nothing gets in the way of the adventure.
Have dietary requirements? No problem. With advance notice, our catering teams are fully equipped to provide vegetarian, Halal, Kosher, gluten-free, and other dietary options.
Accommodation at Our New York Summer Camp

Living on campus is one of the things that makes Sol Camps truly special. From the moment campers arrive, our dedicated housing team works to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and part of a community.
In New York, campers stay at Iona University’s New Rochelle campus, with comfortable residence rooms and shared facilities. Residences feature key card entry, 24-hour staff support, and common areas where campers can relax, socialize, and connect with new friends after a busy day.
We thoughtfully assign rooms with a mix of nationalities in mind, helping campers meet new people and make international friends from day one. Room-pairing requests are always considered.
Activities at Our New York Summer Camp

At Sol Camps, activities are just as important as the classroom. This is where campers Learn It. Live It. — using their English while exploring New York City, trying new things, working in teams, and making friends from around the world.
Each afternoon and evening is packed with sports, team challenges, creative activities, campus events, and social experiences. Weekends bring even bigger adventures, with exciting excursions and opportunities to discover more of New York City.
From exploring iconic landmarks and discovering American culture to taking on team challenges and spending time with new friends, there’s always something exciting on the schedule.
A Typical Day at Camp
Every day at our summer camp blends English lessons with hands-on activities, city adventures, and exciting experiences around New York.

Can I change my class after arriving?
Yes. Students can request a class change after attending their initial lessons. Please allow 24–48 hours for the change to be arranged.

Classes are organized according to age group and program:
- Children: 1 teacher for every 10 students
- Teenagers: 1 teacher for every 15 students
How much time do students spend studying?
Lessons take place in the mornings. In the afternoon, many activities are connected to the topics covered in class, giving students the opportunity to practice English in real-life situations while exploring the local culture.

Staff, Safety & Safeguarding
What qualifications do Sol Camps teachers have?
Our teaching teams include qualified educators with CELTA and/or TESOL certifications, as well as experienced teachers from local school boards.
What qualifications and checks do activity staff have?
Our Activity Leaders are responsible, attentive, and engaging, with a wide range of professional and personal experience. Staff are carefully selected and matched to roles according to their skills and experience. As part of our recruitment and onboarding process, appropriate background checks are conducted, and staff hold First Aid certification where required.
How does Sol Camps keep students safe?
Safeguarding is a fundamental part of our approach to working with young people. All staff receive guidance on appropriate professional boundaries and are expected to follow our safeguarding policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. We also have procedures designed to minimize situations where staff may be alone with students and to ensure appropriate oversight and accountability. Residential areas are designated by gender, with appropriate staffing arrangements in place.

Are student rooms single or shared?
- New York: Gender-specific twin and triple rooms with private washrooms.
Accommodation options may be subject to change.

Parents are generally not permitted to stay in student accommodation. If there are exceptional circumstances, please contact the Sol Camps team to discuss your situation.
05

Students are encouraged to participate in all Sol Camps activities. If a student is unable or unwilling to participate in a particular activity, the request can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If approved, the student will need to remain on campus.
Can the activity schedule change?
We aim to follow the published activity schedule, but activities and schedules may change due to unforeseen circumstances or local conditions.
How do students travel to activities?
Transportation depends on the destination and activity. Students may travel on foot, by public transportation such as trains or buses, or by school-provided bus.
Can students leave campus during free time?
Students may spend their free time in their rooms or classrooms but cannot leave campus unaccompanied. For short trips, such as visiting a convenience store, a staff member will accompany them.

Cooking facilities are not guaranteed. Where available, cooking appliances may generally only be used under staff supervision. Access varies by destination and is subject to local safety requirements.
08
International Community
How diverse are Sol Camps?
We value an international student community and make every effort to maintain a balanced mix of nationalities. Where possible, we aim to limit any single nationality to approximately 30% of the student population. The exact mix varies by destination and session and can be affected by factors such as global events and travel trends.
Which nationalities attend Sol Camps?
Our students have come from more than 34 countries, including Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Spain, France, Italy, Ukraine, Türkiye, Morocco, Armenia, Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Rwanda, Kenya, and Guadeloupe.
09
Individual Students & Group Leaders
Can individual students join a group?
Absolutely. Individual students are fully integrated into the program alongside students traveling as part of a group. Classes typically have around 15 students and are organized according to English level and course. Students generally stay with the same group for classes and activities, while activities also provide opportunities to meet students from other classes and make new friends.
What is the role of a group leader?
Group leaders are responsible for supporting the students in their group and are expected to be active participants in the Sol Camps program. They attend a weekly Monday meeting to review the week's schedule, raise any concerns, and coordinate special arrangements. Group leaders also help students understand camp rules and expectations and should communicate any significant concerns about a student's well-being, behavior, or participation to the Sol Camps team.
10
Additional Support & Accessibility
Can students with additional needs attend Sol Camps?
We assess individual circumstances to determine whether we can provide the appropriate level of support. We are generally able to accommodate students with ADHD and ADD. For other learning, developmental, or mental health conditions, an individual assessment is required to determine whether suitable support can be provided. Accessibility also varies by destination, and some venues may not be fully accessible for students who use wheelchairs. Please discuss accessibility requirements with us before booking so we can explore suitable arrangements.
Can students below the minimum age join?
Requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
11
Fees & Payment
What are the payment deadlines?
A 20% deposit is generally required to secure a place at Sol Camps. For early-bird rates, the 20% deposit is required by January 1, 2027. Full payment is due by May 28, 2027.
How much spending money should students bring?
Sol Camps is an all-inclusive program, so students do not technically need spending money. However, students may wish to have some money for souvenirs, snacks, or shopping. As a general guideline, we recommend:
- USA: $100–150 per week
Parents can provide an amount that suits their child's individual needs. Students are responsible for keeping their money safe, and we recommend avoiding carrying large amounts of cash at one time.
