What documents are my child required to have during the flight? And during the programs?
Please make sure that your child has a document indicating where your child is going, including the address where he/she will be residing (campus or home). Also make sure your child has the Junior Programs official phone number (416 900 1891).
Tip: Make sure your child’s passport is valid.

What is the age of students participating in the junior programs?
This program is for students aged 7 to 13 years old.

Who is going to pick up/drop off my child at the airport?
Once we have the exact date and time of your child's flight, we will inform you about the person picking up your child. International House works with professional companies and staff to ensure your child can be picked up easily.

Can my child join the program on a weekday (Monday to Friday)?
The starting dates for students at our program are Saturday and Sunday. This ensures he/she takes part in the English testing on the following Monday as well as the full orientation happening the same day. If your child plans to join the program during the week, there will be a one-time fee of $75. Also, if your child joins on a weekday, he/she may not be able to participate in the organized activities and may not receive the full orientation as scheduled.

How will my child recognize the person picking them up at the airport?
The person picking up your child from the airport will have a big IH sign. He/she will be waiting for your child right outside the exit from the passport control section of the airport. Please make sure your child looks for our IH school sign - it can be found on our website (www.solcamps.net)

What happens if there is no one at the airport waiting for my child?
If we have the updated information on your child's flight arrivals, there will always be someone at the airport to pick up your child. In the case of an emergency, please make sure your child has our Junior Programs emergency phone number (416-900-1891).

Does my child have free time?
Our Juniors Program is designed to have organized activities throughout the day. However, we have also planned free time for the students. They will always be supervised by IH staff during their free time. Students are never allowed to leave campus without being accompanied by a staff member.

Is my child always accompanied by an adult, during all the activities?
Yes. Your child will always be accompanied by our IH staff during all the activities, at all times.

What kind of food will they eat?
The food is prepared by professional cooks who work on campus during the whole academic year. There is a lot of variety to choose from and the quality is great. Meal options include:
- Grill stations
- Made-to-order pasta
- Deli stations
- Open salad bars
- Pizza shops, etc.

What facilities are there on the campuses?
The following facilities are on-campus and will be available to students as per our program calendar:
- Tennis courts
- Baseball fields
- Soccer fields
- Pool tables and table-tennis
- Recreation rooms
- Internet rooms
- Library, etc.

If my child is allergic to food and/or other things who do we notify?
You must make sure to inform us (on the registration form) if your child has any medical conditions, prior to your child’s arrival. Depending on the medical condition, we will take all appropriate steps to make sure the child is taken care of. There will be a Health Care Officer on campus 24/7 to look after your child’s well-being.

How can I communicate with my child during the trip?
In the residential programs, all rooms have private telephones. Upon arrival, your child will find out their room number and the telephone number. You can use that phone number to communicate with your child at any time. There is also internet availability for them on campus and email is also another form of communication.

Can my child bring his/her cell phone to the program?
Yes, your child can bring their cell phone. However, cell phones are strictly prohibited during class time and social program activities. We reserve the right to take control of it if we believe it is interrupting the program.

How much pocket money should my child bring?
All the activities and food are included in the program. If your child wants to bring pocket money for any extra expenditures, he/she is more than welcome to. We suggest that an amount of $50 weekly is enough for them.

Is there any safe place where my child can leave their valuables?
When in the residential program, every child has a key to their room and it is always safe to leave their valuables in the room. However, for extra precaution, they can leave their valuables with IH staff, and we will take care of them. The child, parent or agency must authorize us to do so.

Is it possible to do laundry on campus?
Yes. There are card-operated machines in every house. Upon arrival, the students will be given a laundry card that they can use. The cost is $1.65 per wash or dry. The card is refillable in the campus library. We will teach your child how to use the card and the machines.

What clothes should my child bring to the summer program?
Anything that makes them feel comfortable in the summer. Please do not forget their swimming suits, hat and sunscreen.

How many people are going to be sleeping in one room?
For those registering in the residential program, we have availability for single and double rooms. Most of the rooms in the residence are double. For a room preference there is a surcharge of $75. Remember that making new friends is one of the best parts of the program!

Can my child leave the campus anytime?
Your child can leave campus only if it is part of the program, or during an organized event with adult supervision. Your child will always be supervised.
